Homemade pizza dough – quick and easy

Pizza dough is a mixture of flour, water, yeast and salt that is kneaded and allowed to rest and then stretched out into a thin base that is baked, giving the characteristic crispy or soft texture depending on the style desired.

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups wheat flour

1 cup warm water

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

The typical pizza dough usually has an average weight of around 200 to 250 grams, but portions can vary depending on the size and type of pizza.

Preparation:

In a small bowl, mix the warm water with the sugar. Sprinkle the dry yeast over the water and let it sit until the mixture bubbles, about 5-10 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

Begin mixing the ingredients with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough begins to come together.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.

Form the dough into a ball and place in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rest in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
