THIS IS HOW STRAWBERRY SWEET WAS USED TO BE MADE IN THE FORMER YUGOSLAVIA: TODAY IT IS FORGOTTEN, AND ALL GRANDMOTHERS PREPARED IT

Preparation

Wash the strawberries and dry them with a kitchen towel. Put some sugar in a large pan, arrange the strawberries in a row and sprinkle with sugar. Continue with a layer of strawberry, then a layer of sugar. At the end, add 3 slices of lemon. Then cover the pan with a kitchen towel and put it in the fridge overnight to let the strawberries release their juice.

The next day, stir the contents of the pot and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Skim off the foam that forms during cooking. Cook for 40 minutes, but do not stir the mixture, but shake the pan. When the desired thickness is reached, the candy is ready.
Leave to cool, then pour into pre-cleaned jars. Close the jar tightly and replace the lid. Let it stand for about 10 minutes to create a vacuum, then put it in a cool place.
