Super delicious homemade onion tart

Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Place them in a pot of water and cook until soft.

Once they are ready, strain and prepare a puree. We added butter and milk and began to form the puree. We must try to step on the potatoes very well so that no lumps are formed.
Add the egg and mix well.
Season with salt and pepper and start adding the flour while stirring until everything is combined, this will be something like the “dough” for the cake. We have booked.
Now we start with the filling. Cut the onion and pepper into small cubes and fry them in a pan with a little oil.
When we see that it is browned, we add the grated carrot and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the carrot becomes soft and brown. We have booked.
Slice the mushrooms and fry them in another pan with a little oil. Season with salt and pepper and cook until soft. Once they are ready, remove from the heat and set aside.
Now we start assembling the cake. We take a cake pan of about 22 cm. We oil the bottom and sides or we can also use parchment paper.
We take the puree and pour it over the mold. We spread the bottom and the sides very well. Remember that this is like the “dough” of the cake, so we must be careful when spreading the puree.
We will place half of the mushrooms on the bottom, accommodating them very well and forming a layer, then we will add the sautéed onions and carrots. On top we will place the remains of the mushrooms.
Cover with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven at approx. 180 °C for about 50 minutes.
Before the cooking time is up, we remove the aluminum foil and sprinkle the cheese on top. We put it back in the oven and wait until it is gratinated. Ready!
You must try this delicious cake, the consistency of the cake base will surprise you, this cake will be an explosion of flavor for our palate!
Tips and advice
When we put the cake in the oven, it must be covered with aluminum foil, otherwise the surface will burn and give the preparation a bitter taste.
When we cook the mushrooms, we must make sure that they are very tender before turning off the heat, otherwise they will become tasteless and rubbery.
As we have already mentioned, with the same recipe we can also prepare other variations, perhaps we can replace the mushrooms with green zucchini or chicken, you will see, it will be delicious.
