Sloppy Joe Casserole

Directions:

Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Meat Mixture:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. When it’s nearly browned, add the diced onion and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are soft and the meat is fully browned. Drain any excess grease.

Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and let simmer for a few minutes until heated through. Season with salt and pepper as needed.

Assembly:
Transfer the meat mixture to a casserole dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

If using crescent roll dough, unroll and lay the pieces over the top of the cheese, slightly overlapping if necessary. If using cornbread mix, prepare according to package directions and spread over the meat and cheese mixture.

Baking:
Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes (for crescent roll dough) or 20-25 minutes (for cornbread) until the top is golden brown.

Serving:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
