PREPARATION:

Prepare the oven and cake pan: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line the baking sheet with parchment paper for easy removal.

Make the cake mix: put the eggs, sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl and beat until foamy. Add the flour, cocoa powder, cornmeal and baking powder and mix gently to retain the air.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Place on a cooling rack to cool.
Make the cherry filling: Place the cherries and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they thicken to a jam-like consistency. take it easy.
Beat the frosting: Beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. In another bowl, whip the cream until stiff, then mix into the cream cheese mixture.
Assembling the cake: Cut the cake horizontally into two layers. Spread the cherry filling on the bottom layer, add a little cream and spread another layer on top. Cover the entire cake with the remaining buttercream.
Cooling: Put the cake in the fridge for a few hours before cutting.
