Transfer the dough from the tray to a tray and cover with hot filling on top. Align and smooth the surface with a hot knife. When the cake has cooled, cut it into bars and serve. They are excellent on their own with an afternoon coffee, or as one of the cakes on a tray with small cakes prepared for the holidays.
