Marble Cake with Milk Chocolate Icing

Preparation :

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Prepare a mold by buttering it and dusting it with flour.
In a bowl, dissolve the cocoa powder in 3 tablespoons of hot milk. Set aside.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and baking soda.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and powdered sugar until pale and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture.
Add the vanilla. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk until the dough is smooth, avoiding overmixing.
Stir the cocoa mixture into some of the cake batter, creating the chocolate batter.
Alternate adding the chocolate and vanilla batters to the prepared pan, swirling with a skewer.
Bake at 180°C for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool on a rack for 15 minutes.
Gently tap the pan on the counter to loosen the cake, then invert it onto the rack to cool completely.
To prepare the icing, heat the milk chocolate, butter and maple syrup in a bowl in the microwave.
Pour the icing over the cake.
