Cornflake Cake Ingredients
Cornflakes – use any brand of your choice, but we prefer Kellogg’s cornflakes (you can also use bran or Special K flakes)
Chocolate – the chocolate used depends on your taste preferences: dark chocolate will be slightly bitter, while milk chocolate will be sweeter.
Cornflake Cake Variations
For the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, use a combination of dark chocolate and milk chocolate.
Do you have a sweet tooth? Use white chocolate only for a sweet, crunchy treat.
You can also add fun toppings (do this before the chocolate sets): mini Easter eggs, rainbow or chocolate sprinkles, or even coconut flakes.
Advice
Melt the chocolate in the microwave at 50% or in a bain-marie. To set up a double boiler, you will need a medium-sized saucepan and a heat-resistant bowl (usually glass).
Make sure the bowl and pan fit together well: the bowl should sit on top of the pan (in other words, it should be larger). Put water in the pan (it should not touch the bowl) and place over medium heat.
