Carnival pizza is a rustic pie, typical of the Sorrento tradition , baked during the festive season. It is a fragrant and golden puff pastry shell that contains inside a stringy and delicious heart made with eggs, cheese, fresh sausage and fiordilatte.
Rich and sumptuous, it can basically be considered a single dish , to be accompanied by a simple seasonal side dish (usually fried broccoli rabe).
