Cinnamon Twisted Donuts, easy to make, these donuts are some of the best we’ve ever had!
Give us these twisted dough pieces warm with a glass of milk and we’ll be in sweet tooth heaven!
Ingredients:
1.5 tsp instant yeast
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
For the cinnamon-sugar coating:
1/2 cup sugar, for dusting
1 tsp cinnamon powder, optional
oil for deep-frying Donuts
Additional flour for dusting your work surface
Instructions:
In a bowl, add 1 cup lukewarm water and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add instant yeast and wait until the mixture forms bubbles. (This may take about 5 to 10 minutes.)
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine flour and salt. When the liquid mixture is ready, add it to the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until you get most of the flour out of the bowl.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10-15 minutes until elastic and smooth (may be a little sticky). Place in a lightly greased bowl and cover with cling film. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume. When the dough has doubled in size, transfer it to a lightly floured surface.
Divide the dough into 15 equal pieces. Shape each into a stick and twist from above, closing both ends. Transfer each piece of dough to a clean plate/baking tray. You will notice that the first pieces of dough are getting larger – they are ready to be dipped into the hot oil. (Tip: You can ask someone to fry the donuts for you while you shape the rest.)
