How to make Millionaire Style Bars

Preparation

  1. Turn on the oven at 180°C. In a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugar until creamy. Add the vanilla and yolk, and then gradually add the flour and salt. Stretch the dough on a previously greased baking sheet and bake it for 20 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a pot, combine the condensed milk, brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it takes on the consistency and color of dulce de leche. Turn off the heat, add the vanilla and salt. I poured this mixture over the already cooked base.
  3. For the topping, heat the cream in a saucepan without letting it boil. Pour over the chopped chocolate in a bowl. Let it sit for a little while and then mix until smooth. I spread this over the filling in the roasting pan.
  4. As a final touch, if you like contrast, I sprinkled some flaked salt over the chocolate.
