FRIED TOAST

In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar (if using), and vanilla extract (if using) until well combined. This is your egg mixture.
Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add a knob of butter or a drizzle of vegetable oil and let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan evenly.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides evenly. Allow the bread to soak in the mixture for a few seconds, but be careful not to let it become too soggy.

Carefully transfer the soaked bread slices to the preheated skillet or frying pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Once the fried toast is cooked to your liking, remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter or oil to the skillet as needed.
Serve the fried toast hot, with your choice of toppings such as maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or jam.

Enjoy your delicious and comforting fried toast as a satisfying breakfast or brunch option!
