Far Breton with Prunes

Dough preparation: In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, eggs, vanilla sugar and milk. Beat until smooth and homogeneous. Let the dough rest for one hour.
Preheating the oven and preparing the dish: Preheat the oven to 200°C. In a gratin dish (ideally earthenware), melt a little butter. Make sure that the butter covers the bottom and sides of the dish well.

Adding the prunes: Pour the batter into the prepared dish. Roll the prunes in a little flour (to prevent them from sinking to the bottom of the dish) and arrange them gently on top of the batter.

Cooking: Place the dish in the oven and cook for 30 minutes at 200°C. After this time, turn off the oven and let the far rest for another 30 minutes inside, without opening the oven door.

Author’s note: For a variation, you can substitute raisins for the prunes. It is important not to open the oven during baking to ensure the far rises evenly.

This Far Breton with Prunes is a comforting and delicious dessert, perfect to end a meal on a sweet note or for a gourmet snack. Its melting texture and juicy prunes make it a specialty appreciated by all.
