Crêpe rolls: perfect for a quick and delicious dinner

Whether sweet or savory, crepes can be enjoyed both ways. Typically, crepes are served for breakfast or brunch with fillings like fruit jam, Nutella, cheese, ham, or even a little cream. These delicious crepe rolls are made by rolling a thin crepe around the filling of ham, cheese, and béchamel sauce. Whether you’re looking for something light or indulgent, crepe rolls fry up in minutes and make for an unforgettable meal. It’s also easy to adapt the recipe to whatever ingredients you have on hand (great for using up leftovers!), so why not give them a try today?
How to make crepe rolls
Make the crepe batter.
Place flour, salt, eggs and milk in a large mixing bowl and mix. The dough should be smooth and lump-free.
Bake the pancakes until golden brown on both sides.
Make the white sauce/béchamel sauce .
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and stir to combine (there should be no visible flour spots). Add the milk and cook, stirring, until you have a thick, creamy bechamel sauce. Remove the pan from the heat, add the ham and cheese and stir to combine.
Fill the crepes and bake. Place a spoonful of the filling on the crepe and roll it up tightly. Fry the rolls in a little butter over a medium heat until golden brown and heated through.
Tips
If you prefer a crispier coating, you can bread the buns and fry them in oil instead. Simply dip the buns in beaten egg, then flour and finally breadcrumbs. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
You can change up the savory filling to use up leftovers (or if you prefer something other than ham and cheese). Here are a few flavor combinations to get you started:
Melted spinach, feta, bechamel sauce and a pinch of nutmeg
Tuna, corn, bechamel sauce
Cooked minced meat, tomato paste, bechamel sauce
If you want to enjoy these crepes for dessert, prepare a sweet filling instead. Try one of these combinations:
Marshmallow flakes, fresh strawberries and chocolate chips
Bananas, Nutella
Strawberry jam and cream
Strawberry jelly and peanut butter
How to store crepe rolls
Store plain crepes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Stuffed and fried crepes will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
