Christmas cake: The recipe for the perfect shortcrust pastry for the holidays

Step 6
Once the resting time is over, take the dough again and divide it into two parts: you will need the larger part for the base and the smaller part that will be placed in the fridge for decoration.
Step 7
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin on a sheet of baking paper to a thickness of 6 to 7 millimeters.
Step 8
Carefully turn the dough disc into a buttered 24 centimetre diameter pan and press it firmly with your hands to ensure it sticks.
Step 9
Carefully peel off the parchment paper
Step 10
Remove excess dough from the edges by trimming them with a knife.
Step 11
Spread plenty of strawberry jam or any other flavor you prefer.
Step 12
Spread the jam layer evenly with the back of a spoon.
Step 13
Gather the puff pastry, roll it out into a thin disc and use different sized star-shaped shapes to decorate the cake. Remix leftovers.
Step 14
Place the stars on the surface of the Christmas cake to create a pleasant visual effect
Step 15
Once the decoration is ready, you can bake the tart in a static oven preheated to 180 °C for 25 minutes, until the dough takes on a beautiful golden color. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely so that the jam layer sets well.
Step 16
Place the tart on a sufficiently large baking tray and place it on the table
Step 17
Cut the Christmas cake into slices and enjoy
Storage:
The Christmas cake will keep for a maximum of 4 days at room temperature under a glass lid.
