Chocolate buns: the recipe for a soft and delicious dessert

The chocolate roll is sweet, soft and delicious, a variation of the classic hazelnut cream roll. It is a soft cocoa biscuit dough filled with a rich cream of mascarpone, vanilla and whipped cream, glazed on the surface with a drizzle of melted dark chocolate and finally garnished with chocolate sprinkles.
It is quick and easy to prepare: beat the egg whites until stiff, add the egg yolks, mix with the sugar, flour, bitter cocoa and a pinch of salt and spread the mixture evenly on a baking tray and cook in the oven at 200°C for 8 minutes.
Once the base is out of the oven, be sure to roll it up while it is still hot and leave it to rest until it has cooled completely: now you have to unroll it, spread the filling and, once the roll is ready, put it in the fridge for at least 2 hours , necessary for the flavours and textures to settle.
Finally, we start with the table setting and decoration, followed by another short break: the result will be a real treat for the palate, ideal to serve at the end of a meal or opt for a buffet for a special occasion. A simple recipe, accessible to everyone, that requires few precautions: to obtain a perfect result, remember to mix all the ingredients gently from bottom to top and not to extend the cooking times too much.
You can store the roll in the refrigerator for 2 days , wrapped in cling film or in an airtight container at most.
If you want, you can still add some chocolate chips to the filling to make it even more pleasant; if you want, you can vary it with a spoonful of homemade hazelnut cream or replace the mascarpone with a cheese spread according to your taste. Instead of sprinkles, you can use chocolate flakes, including white or milk chocolate, crumbled cocoa beans or chopped hazelnuts and perfume the mixture with a drop of vanilla extract.
