a delicious French cake! The juiciest cake I’ve ever eaten!

Add the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt and fold in gently until a smooth dough forms.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

Spread the pear slices on the dough and press them in lightly.

Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pear slices.

Bake the cake for about 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly.

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water and simmer over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Drizzle the mixture over the still warm cake.

Before serving, dust the cake with powdered sugar if desired and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
